Today, we focus on the trade in wind turbines, as analysing the EU’s production and trade of green energy products is crucial for understanding geopolitical dependencies and assessing energy security.
Between 2014 and 2015, the sold production quantity of wind-powered generating sets in the EU fell from 22 200 to 8 300. From 2015 to 2023, the number varied each year between 6 800 and 12 000, before increasing to 15 500 in 2024. The EU’s sold production in 2024 was valued at €10.4 billion.
