Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, Stéphane Séjourné today announced the launch of the second call for strategic projects to ensure a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials for European industry.
The Commission has given the green light to 13 projects that will help it access raw materials located outside the EU. The projects will also boost local value creation in third countries. We need raw materials to build electric vehicles, batteries, high-performance magnets and much more.
The Commission adopted the first list of 13 Strategic Projects on strategic raw materials located outside of the EU, including in overseas countries or territories. The Strategic Projects will diversify the EU’s sources of supply and increase economic security.
