On 1-3 September, a Joint Demonstration Event showcasing the latest European Innovation on Border Surveillance was co-organised by the Commission and the Finnish Border Guard, among others, and in Turku, Finland. Under the banner of CERIS, the event featured 19 European prototype solutions.

The Commission has adopted the Decision to launch the Network for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, the official expert group bringing together policy makers, experts and practitioners in the prevention of child sexual abuse and exploitation, marking a new chapter in child protection for the EU.
On 21 July, Commissioner Brunner co-hosted the second Ministerial meeting of the European Ports Alliance Public-Private Partnership, alongside the Danish Presidency of the Council, where the next steps to strengthen EU port security in response to evolving drug trafficking methods were defined.
The Commission has proposed a new Multiannual Financial Framework of almost EUR 2 trillion. The proposal includes a sizeable increase of the AMIF, BMVI and ISF Funds, tripling subsidies. With additional funding from the EU Thematic Facility, the HOME Funds should receive EUR 74 billion in total.
On 24 June, the Commission presented a Roadmap setting out the way forward to ensure law enforcement authorities in the EU have effective and lawful access to data. This is an important deliverable under ProtectEU – the EU’s Internal Security Strategy, presented by the Commission in April this year.
On 12 June, the Horizon Europe fund is launching a new call for projects. With a budget close to EUR 250 million, it will cover EU external border management, protection of infrastructure, cybersecurity, disaster resilience, the protection of EU citizens, and strengthened security research.
