On 18 November, the Commission celebrated ten years of EU-backed research and innovation in the field of migration. Funded under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes with roughly EUR 160 million, migration research has been crucial in exploring one of the most pressing global issues.
On 18 November, European Parliament and the Council reached a political agreement on the creation of the EU Talent Pool, the first EU-wide platform designed to support the recruitment of skilled non-EU nationals, contributing to the EU’s competitiveness agenda by helping to address labour shortages.
On 11 June, the Commission published a report on the implementation of the Pact, halfway through its transition period. While significant progress has been made since its adoption, further efforts are required ensure the EU’s new migration management system is fully operational by June 2026.
