2025 has been a defining year for the Ambassadors of the #DiversityInTransport network, marked by renewed momentum, stronger collaboration, and significant progress across all areas of activity. From expanding communication channels to deepening community engagement through events, webinars and subgroup work, the network has advanced its mission to promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across Europe’s transport sector.
One of the key moments of the year was the third Conference of Ambassadors for #DiversityInTransport, which brought together members from across Europe both in person and online. The conference focused on visibility, collaboration and defining concrete priorities for 2025–2026. Ambassadors shared powerful personal testimonies, presented progress from their thematic subgroups and agreed on a series of next steps such as consolidating subgroups, strengthening communication efforts and developing new tools to support the network. This event reaffirmed the strength and dedication of the community and set the direction for coordinated action in the coming months.
A major milestone in 2025 was the launch of the new #DiversityInTransport website, published in September. Designed as a central hub for knowledge-sharing, visibility and practical resources, the website now serves as a dynamic platform showcasing the work of the Ambassadors and providing access to DEI-related content for the wider transport community. The site brings together resources, stories, data visualisations and practical guidance, making information more accessible and strengthening the network’s outreach.
Communication efforts also played an important role this year. The Ambassadors’ LinkedIn channel was revitalised with regular updates welcoming new members, sharing insights from major events, reposting contributions from Ambassadors, and promoting the webinars, blogs and articles produced within the network. This strengthened communication has contributed to greater visibility and engagement across the European transport community.
Throughout the year, Ambassadors actively represented the network in key conferences and sector events, such as the Urban Mobility Days in Vilnius from 30 September to 2 October 2025 or the Polis Conference in Utrecht from 26 to 27 November 2025, contributing their expertise to discussions on inclusive mobility and raising awareness of DEI challenges and opportunities in transport. Their participation has reinforced the network’s credibility and growing presence at European level.
Knowledge sharing has further expanded through the publication of new webinars, blogs and stories, enriching the network’s collective expertise. These contributions, available on the Diversity in Transport website, support practitioners, policymakers and organisations committed to fostering inclusive mobility systems.
As 2025 draws to a close, the Ambassadors’ network stands more connected, visible and engaged than ever. With a strengthened digital presence, new content, and active participation in events across Europe, the network is in place for continued progress in 2026. The European Commission remains committed to supporting a transport sector that reflects the diversity of the society it serves: inclusive, equitable and accessible for all.
