New study will map values and social norms among migrants
Sweden’s new education and integration minister announced plans for a government-funded study by the World Values Survey (WVS) to map migrants’ values and social norms, based on face-to-face interviews.
The purpose of the study is to provide an updated, in-depth picture of the social, cultural and democratic values of people living in Sweden. It will also provide insights into how these values have changed over time, serving as a knowledge base on the differences in values between those born in Sweden and those born abroad.
Statistics Sweden conducts feasibility study on the development of an integration barometer
Statistics Sweden published a feasibility study on the previously announced development of an integration barometer. The barometer will regularly measure differences between people born in Sweden and people born abroad that are relevant to integration policy. Entitled “An investigation on monitoring integration”, the feasibility study includes a 3-page summary in English and, as an annex, a mapping of methods already being used for monitoring integration in Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Canada.
Integration and future prospects of people displaced from Ukraine in Sweden and other Nordic countries
The Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) at Oslo Metropolitan University published a policy brief on the reception, integration and future prospects of people displaced from Ukraine in the Nordic countries.
The policy brief compares the perspectives of Ukrainians benefitting from temporary protection in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. It analyses similarities and differences in their reasons for migrating, their reception and integration experiences in their host countries, and their aspirations for return.
In another new policy brief, published by the FREE Network, researchers Anna Anisimova, Maria Perrotta Berlin and Kata Fredheim offer similar insights into the Swedish approach to the reception and integration of displaced Ukrainians.
