Registration is now open for the Global Bioeconomy Summit (GBS2026), which will take place in Dublin, Ireland, on 20–21 October 2026 under the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The conference is expected to bring together around 1000 participants from policy, research, industry, civil society and international organisations to discuss the future of the global bioeconomy.
The Summit is particularly relevant in the context of the new EU Bioeconomy Strategy, adopted in November 2025, which places a strong emphasis on international cooperation and the transition to sustainable bio-based value chains. Through its active engagement in GBS2026, the European Commission aims to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with international partners on bioeconomy research, innovation, and policy.
In addition, the International Bioeconomy Forum (IBF), co-chaired by the European Commission and South Africa, will organise dedicated activities during the Summit days, including an IBF plenary session and thematic workshops bringing together key international bioeconomy research partners.
The European Commission, led by its Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, will contribute to the Summit through policy discussions, workshops and an EU exhibition presence showcasing bioeconomy-related initiatives and innovations.
