Denmark holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU From 1 July to 31 December 2025. Under the slogan ‘A strong Europe in a changing world’, the Danish Presidency will focus on creating a secure, competitive, and green Europe.
Migration and Home Affairs Priorities
During its Presidency, Denmark will prioritise tackling irregular migration and ensuring effective control of the EU’s external borders. The Presidency will support the Council’s continued efforts to identify new and effective approaches to managing irregular migration.
The Presidency will also continue the work both internally in the EU as well as externally to fight serious and transnational organised crime, with emphasis on the fight against drug-related crime and other crimes committed by organised criminal networks.
The Presidency will also focus on leveraging digital development to enhance law enforcement capabilities in fighting serious crime, while addressing the misuse of new technologies for criminal or harmful purposes.
The Danish Presidency aims to strengthen the EU’s internal security and resilience, enabling the EU to better respond to current and future crises, disasters, and security threats.
