The CountEmissions EU Regulation aims to establish a single, science‑based framework for accounting greenhouse‑gas emissions from transport services in the EU. This framework requires a common methodology based on EN ISO 14083 standard, and other enablers, including default datasets for harmonised input data, a public GHG emissions calculation tool, rules for the technical quality check of external emission calculators, and compliance verification and certification arrangements.
To ensure consistent and timely implementation of CountEmissions EU, the European Commission will require advice and expertise on various implementation aspects set out in the Regulation. Expert input will be particularly crucial in preparing implementing and delegated acts, as well as other deliverables envisaged under the Regulation.
In light of the above, in May 2026 the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (‘DG MOVE’) took the initiative to set up the informal Expert Group On Transport Emissions Accounting (EGOTEA).
The Commission is calling for applications with a view to selecting members of the group other than Member States’ authorities and other public entities.
The deadline for the first round of evaluation under the continuously open call is extended until 24 July 2026 included.
The applicants who already sent their applications do not need to re-apply.
