Last Union for the Mediterranean’s Forum focuses on green entrepreneurship and green skills

On 30 April, EU Ambassador to Jordan, Mr Chatzisavas, as well as Jordanian Minister of Labour, H.E. Khaled Al-bakkar, participated in the Union for the Mediterranean Forum (UfM) in Amman.

The Forum was attended by young people, policy-makers, private sector’s representatives, Social Partners, as well as other stakeholders from the Mediterranean region. Its objective was to exchange insights and best practices, foster dialogue, collaboration, and set a course for future initiatives on Green Entrepreneurship.

Four panels took place on:

  1. Green entrepreneurship as a driver of sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
  2. The role of technology, digitalisation and green skills in advancing the green economy.
  3. Building an inclusive greeneconomy: engaging vulnerable groups, especially youth and women through social and green entrepreneurship.
  4. Policies, frameworks, and partnerships to support green entrepreneurship and employment.

The recommendations from the meeting will feed into the next UfM Ministerial Meeting of 14 October 2025 and provide guidance for future initiatives.

Context

The Union for the Mediterranean’s Forum was co-organised by the European Commission on behalf of the UfM Co-Presidency with the UfM Secretariat and a Jordanian partner, Business Development Centre (BDC).

This Forum is a follow up to the September 2024 edition on entrepreneurship in Helsinki.

Green entrepreneurship is not just an economic model — it’s a social movement that can unlock sustainable livelihoods, innovation, and resilience across the Mediterranean region.
