The imposed definitive anti-dumping duties range from 29.1% to 42.3%. Provisional duties have already been imposed since last November.
The imposition of the definitive duties follows an investigation which found that imports of adipic acid from China were entering the EU at dumped prices. This is causing injury to the EU’s adipic acid industry, which is located in Germany, France and Italy, and employs over 1,100 people.
Adipic acid is mainly used to make Nylon 66 and polyester polyols, which are used in a wide variety of industries, including in the textiles, furniture, automotive, footwear and construction sectors.
The overall value of EU imports of adipic acid from outside the bloc is €160 million, €130 million of which is imported from China.
