Launched by Lille Metropole in 2017, the MobiliMEL project aims to support jobseekers in finding mobility solutions. Recognising that lack of transport can be a significant barrier to employment, the initiative offers both individual guidance and a dedicated online platform.
The project is built around five key pillars: coordination and information, personalised support through mobility advisors, raising awareness among employers, training for employment professionals, and supporting new mobility-focused initiatives.
A core part of the project is providing personlised support for jobseekers. Specialised advisors help jobseekers improve their access to employment and training, boost employability, and become more independent when using public transport. The programme has shown strong results, with 96% of participants in 2023 reporting improved mobility and 77% seeing better employability outcomes.
In addition, MobiliMEL offers an online platform, developed by “Compétences et Emplois” in 2021. This platform provides comprehensive information about transport options in the Lille metropolitan area, available mobility aids, and access to personalised support. Employment professionals can also use the platform to assist their clients. Recently updated in late 2024, the platform now offers an improved user experience and highlights sustainable mobility solutions.
