Today, Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen is in Athens to participate in the Informal Ministerial Council of the Energy Community, marking the 20th anniversary of this key forum for cooperation between the EU and its neighbours. The event is co-hosted by the European Commission, the Energy Community Secretariat and the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy.
In Athens, the Commissioner will also be meeting with national and local decision-makers to push forward the EU’s agenda on energy and housing. He will meet Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Vice-President of the Government, Konstantinos Chatzidakis, the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs, Domna Michailidou, the Minister of Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, and the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas.
Tomorrow, Commissioner Jørgensen will visit the High Voltage centre of Aspropyrgos, which is a project of strategic importance for Greece’s energy infrastructure, energy security and the integration of renewable energy sources.
Several press points are foreseen before or after each meeting and at the end of the site visit in Aspropyrgos, which will be later available on EBS, as well as the photo coverage of the country visit.
