PRB and PRC publish a joint study to better understand the actual benefits of Free Route Airspace (FRA) in Europe and to identify operational impacts or barriers that might be limiting its effectiveness.
This joint report presents a qualitative analysis of flight trajectories, complemented by a stakeholder survey to capture direct feedback. While the findings confirm improvements in flight efficiency and fuel savings resulting from FRA implementation, the study also identifies areas requiring further attention. These include the need for broader cross-border FRA integration, the continued use of airspace restrictions, and the increased complexity in flight planning.
