Registration closes on 30 September 2026, so early sign-up is encouraged; please note that travel arrangements should not be made until participation is confirmed.
Assessing CAP support for organic farming is essential for understanding both the uptake of organic farming practices and their contribution to the environmental and economic objectives of the CAP.
This task offers the opportunity to capture a wide range of environmental, climate, and socio-economic outcomes generated by organic farming, but there is a need for a robust and comprehensive evaluation framework.
Isolating the specific effects of CAP support can be complex, as results are also shaped by market trends and regulatory frameworks, while relevant evidence is often scattered across multiple data sources.
This workshop will address these challenges directly. Its objectives are threefold: to strengthen participants’ capacity to assess CAP support to organic farming in a holistic way, covering environmental, climate, economic, and social impacts, and its contribution to CAP objectives; to promote the exchange of good practices and lessons learned in evaluating this support, with particular attention to evaluation frameworks, data availability, and methodological approaches; and to facilitate networking and peer learning, while identifying further support needs.
The event in Vilnius will build on the work carried out this year during the Thematic Working Group (TWG) ‘Assessment of CAP support to organic farming: economic aspects‘. Participants in the Good Practice Workshop will have the opportunity to obtain insights from the draft guidance document prepared during the TWG to assess how CAP funds contribute to the economic sustainability of organic farming, including proposals for evaluation frameworks adaptable to different Member State contexts.
The workshop in Vilnius is intended for Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies, CAP networks, evaluators, and other CAP evaluation stakeholders across the Member States, including researchers and experts with relevant experience. The event will be held in English.
