On 25 September 2026, the European Commission convened representatives from ministries responsible for housing from all EU Member States for a follow-up meeting on the European Affordable Housing Plan.
Building on the discussions held in October 2025 and February 2026, delegates discussed progress on a range of key initiatives, including the Housing Alliance, the Affordable Housing Act, the Housing simplification package and the ongoing analysis by the Commission on speculation, financialisation and transparency in the housing market.
The meeting also featured a presentation by the French national promotional institution, Caisse des Dépôts and the French Housing Ministry on France’s first national hub dedicated to social, affordable and sustainable housing: the French National Hub for Social, Intermediate and Sustainable Housing.
In addition, participants received updates on ongoing work from the European Parliament’s Special Committee on the Housing Crisis in the EU and from the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The meeting was yet another opportunity to continue exchanges with Member States on the development of a more coordinated and effective European response to housing challenges.
