The European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) is the public database where anyone can freely search, filter, and sort over 2 million registered products: all those required to display the well-known A-to-G energy label. As of today (20 July), the database includes an important additional feature, namely the possibility also to compare similar products. With this new feature, EPREL becomes an even more powerful tool to help consumers, businesses and public buyers make better-informed and more sustainable purchasing decisions.
Manufacturers and importers register their products in EPREL with transparent information on parameters such as energy efficiency, water consumption, noise emissions, repairability, spare-part pricing and supplier warranties, as well as numerous product-specific characteristics. The new comparison feature marks a significant step forward in user experience: filtering options allow you to refine your search, results can be sorted by up to three criteria, and researchers can export results to a file for more detailed analysis.
Further improvements are already planned, including the addition of commercial product names to make models easier to identify, EAN codes matching those found on product packaging, and product images.
National market surveillance authorities also benefit from dedicated tools to carry out their duties, with a full picture of the products placed on the EU Single Market.
