Over the past 20 years, European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) has grown from a gathering of dedicated stakeholders to the biggest annual event on the clean energy transition in Europe, with around 10 000 participants each year. The theme of this year’s event is ‘A Clean, Secure and Competitive Energy Union’.

It is still possible to register for this special edition, taking place between 9 and 11 June 2026 (both onsite and online).

This year’s event will bring together all EU Energy Commissioners since 2007: Andris Piebalgs, Günther Oettinger, Miguel Arias Cañete and Kadri Simson alongside current Commissioner Dan Jørgensen. They will offer their exclusive insights into how the continent’s priorities have evolved and what must come next amid a changing geopolitical landscape.

The event will be officially opened at 09:00hrs (CET) on Tuesday 9 June by Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen. Other key speakers include Elena Donazzan MEP, Minister Darragh O’Brien representing the upcoming Irish Presidency, Marko Primorac, Vice President of the European Investment Bank and Sabine Erlinghagen, Vice-Chair of DIGITALEUROPE’s Executive Energy Council and CEO of Grid Software at Siemens.

In the afternoon, Commissioner Dubravka Šuica will deliver a keynote speech officially launching the T-MED initiative, a vital project to speed up the development of renewable energy and clean tech cooperation between the EU and the Southern Mediterranean region.

On 10 and 11 June respectively, the new Director-General for Energy, Céline Gauer, and Deputy Director-General, Mechthild Wörsdörfer, will present the state-of-play and next steps in the area of EU energy policy.

EUSEW will also provide the backdrop for a new communication campaign designed to empower citizens in the clean energy transition by raising awareness of their energy rights and encouraging active participation in the energy market. Under the slogan ‘Unlock Your Power! Your energy. Your rights. Your choice. and focusing on practical, real-life situations such as understanding energy bills, consumer protection and participation in energy communities, the campaign will help citizens make informed energy choices. This pilot initiative will focus on Czechia, Greece and Spain, with campaign content also available across the EU in English.
